Tatiana Wins First Match Since Surgery 6 2 1 6 6 1
Today Tatiana has won her first match since coming back to the tour ! She b eat Aurelie Vedy 6-2 1-6 6-1. Tatiana, for the most part, cruised in the first set but met trouble with a well defending Vedy in the second. She managed to close it out in the third, only allowing the 408th ranked Vedy one game.
In today’s game there seemed to be a lot of frustration on Tatiana’s part. She was having trouble with her serve and at times, even threw he raquet. Tomorrow she will play Maret Ani, ranked 129.
Good luck, Tatiana!
Here comes a French audio interview that Tatiana gave to Golovin-Attitude’s webmiss Anne-So just after her match and the translation of it (made by FrenchY52) :
"First of all, I’m very happy that I’ve won, that I’ll be able to play tomorrow, but that’s really hard to play again. I didn’t have great feelings and rythm on the court, but I was definitely really happy to be out there, I think that’s what helped me to win that 3rd set. Moreover, she (Aurélie Védy) is a lefty moonballer, she was hitting slices, so it was really hard to find a rythm. Also, I can’t serve 100% because my tummy is still a bit painful, but like I said I didn’t expect to play my best for my 1st match so I’m really happy that I won and hopefully I’ll improve day after day.
I have great memories of Cagnes sur Mer, because I played my first senior tournament here back in 2002, we had a great Fed Cup tie in 2006. Moreover, I get on really well with the staff, Bruno (Bruno Rebeuh, the tournament director), everyone is nice here. Plus we’re in the South, so it’s sunny except today !
Of course, tomorrow’s match is going to be a bit harder than today’s, but now I think it’s going to depend of how I’m feeling, how I’m playing, because it’s been a while since I didn’t play 2 matches in 2 days. I wasn’t practicing more than 1 hour and a half a day until now, so I think it’s going to be be a matter of how I rest for tomorrow.. "
